Between Juventus and Tottenham, Zaniolo closer to Roma

Roma will not lower their €50m asking price for Nicolò Zaniolo and his favoured destination is Juventus rather than Tottenham, so there are reports he could extend his contract after all.

The 23-year-old is under contract until June 2024 at the Stadio Olimpico and Inter are owed 15 per cent of any sell-on fee as part of the original €4.5m transfer in 2018.

He is available on the market this summer for the right fee, which has been set at a minimum of €50m, preferably all cash and no player exchanges.

It was reported today by Calciomercato.it that Antonio Conte’s Tottenham Hotspur had seen an offer worth €29m plus ownership of Wales international defender Joe Rodon rejected.

Now Calciomercato.com claim that Zaniolo would much prefer to join Juventus, or at least stay in Serie A, rather than move abroad at this stage of his career.

With that in mind, and Juve’s struggle to pay that figure after already spending €50m on Gleison Bremer from Torino, the possibility of extending his rapport with Roma is more and more likely.

It would give the player a salary increase and provide the Giallorossi with more guarantees when the time comes in future to negotiate a sale.
