Udinese’s friendly with Union Berlin was disastrous, ending in a 1-0 defeat with Jakub Bijol injured and Beto sent off for punching an opponent.

This was meant to be a pre-season test for both teams, but was one piece of bad news after another for coach Andrea Sottil.

Lazar Samardzic was left on the bench amid reports of an imminent transfer to Inter and was joined on the sidelines after just 20 minutes when Bijol limped off the field.

It wasn’t even half-time yet when Beto reacted furiously to a foul from Benedict Hollerbach and punched the Union Berlin player, sparking a brawl and the inevitable red card for the striker.

The Germans scored the winner against 10 men with Jerome Rouissillion at the 73rd minute.
