Betis Sevilla director Ramon Planes hints that Milan target Juan Miranda doesn’t want to extend his contract but talks between the two parties will continue.
Planes spoke about Miranda’s future during a press conference on Monday, held to unveil former Milan and Arsenal defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos who has recently joined the club as a free agent.
“We’ve been talking for a few weeks to extend his [Miranda’s] contract and continue with Betis,” Planes told reporters, as quoted by besoccer.com.
“This is the club’s will. We want him to continue. Then it takes the desire of two parties, the club and the player and the club want to extend.”
Several sources reported earlier this week that Milan had agreed personal terms with Miranda whose contract with the La Liga side expires in June 2024.
The 23-year-old has made eight appearances at a club level this season and scored a goal in his first and only international appearance with Spain’s national team in June 2021.
The Rossoneri are on the lookout for a potential backup for Theo Hernandez given that the Frenchman is the only option Stefano Pioli has as a left-back.
Miranda made his senior debut with Barcelona in 2018 in a Champions League match against Tottenham and played four games with the La Liga giants before joining Schalke 04 in Germany the following year. He’s been playing for Betis since 2020.
Miranda has four goals and six assists in 63 appearances in Spain’s top flight.
