Federico Bernardeschi went from putting a gold medal around his neck to a gold band around his finger, as the Italy star got married under 48 hours after winning UEFA EURO 2020.

The Juventus forward has definitely had a busy few days, as he converted a penalty during the final shoot-out win against England at Wembley on Sunday.

He flew back to Rome on Monday morning, took part in the open-top bus parade through the city streets, and on Tuesday was in Carrara to marry his partner Veronica Ciardi.

Under 48 hours on from the victory, it’s perhaps unsurprising that Bernardeschi was 40 minutes late to the church.

Veronica, a former Big Brother contestant in Italy, arrived in a vintage light blue Volkswagen Beetle.

The priest asked during the ceremony if Bernardeschi felt more emotional now or when he stepped up to take the penalty.

The couple already have a young child, who took part in the ceremony.
