Juventus winger Federico Bernardeschi said Italy ‘want to bring the passion and enthusiasm’ from 2006 ‘back to the whole nation’.

Bernardeschi was interviewed by RAI Uno for the ‘Sogno Azzurro’ broadcast that will air tomorrow, and the former Fiorentina player spoke about Marcello Lippi’s Italy, who won the World Cup in 2006.

The 27-year-old was 12 years old when Fabio Cannavaro captained the Azzurri in Germany and said the Euro 2020 squad want to bring back the emotions from that success.

“I have a memory of the 2006 national team,” he told RAI Uno. “That national team made us all dream, we won the World Cup.

“And that’s what we would like to do. Bringing that passion and enthusiasm back to the whole nation.”
