Federico Bernardeschi is said to be close to joining Toronto FC, but the ex-Fiorentina and Juventus winger denies he has already signed his contract.

The Italy international saw his Juventus contract expire this past June, so he is now available as a free agent.

He held talks with Napoli, but the two parties didn’t reach an agreement so MLS side Toronto FC seem to be the closest club to secure his services.

Reports in Italy and in the USA suggest Bernardeschi has already reached an agreement with Lorenzo Insigne and Domenico Criscito’s club but Bernardeschi has denied that he has already signed his contract.

“At the moment, I haven’t signed with any club. When I’ll do so, I’ll be the one announcing it, thank you,” he wrote in an Instagram story.

Bernardeschi joined Juventus from Fiorentina in a €40m deal in the summer of 2017 but failed to justify his price tag in Turin, scoring 12 goals in 183 appearances with the Serie A giants.

He won seven trophies in Turin, including three Serie A titles. Bernardeschi was part of the Italy squad that won the Euros in 2021.
