Former Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi will revolutionise Serie C side Monza if his takeover goes through, according to long-time rival Massimo Moratti.
Berlusconi is on the verge of purchasing Monza, a 106-year-old club who have never played in Serie A, and Moratti revealed he was close to buying Bari before Napoli’s Aurelio De Laurentiis stepped in.
“There’s only one explanation for it, and it’s called passion,” the ex-Inter President told Il Giornale.

“It’s a very nice initiative, which can lead to a great awakening of interest for the Brianza, Serie C and everything else.
“After that, you’ll see what will happen: they’ll put their hands on the stadium, strengthen the team, starting from the knowledge that Galliani has of the city and the club’s recent history.
“Some time ago I was offered Bari, who were later sold to Aurelio De Laurentiis. I discussed it with my son for a few days and was flattered by the offer, but then we decided to pass it up.
“It wasn’t so much for the geographical distance with Puglia but, if anything, because I know myself well and I know what the steps would’ve been after my first intervention.
“For example: you don’t want to be roused by the idea of buying a Brazilian or Uruguayan champion.
