Now, speaking at an event in Milan, the Diavolo President appears to confirm that the plan to construct a new ground has been abandoned, in agreement with new investor Bee Taechaubol.
“I think Milan will stay at San Siro,” Berlusconi told assembled media.
“I really like it. Mr Bee really loves it [the stadium] too. He's also convinced that it's the best solution. San Siro was born to host football.
“The deal with Mr Bee? It’s only a formality now, I like Bee Taechaubol very much.
"Can we close the deal by my birthday [September 29]? No, it will be two days later. Anyway, I'm at an age where you don't have a party for your birthday anymore.
"We're focusing on marketing the Milan brand in all Far-Eastern countries, not just China. The plan should lead Milan to bringing in over €100m annually.
The former Prime Minister of Italy also gave his assessment of last night’s Milan derby, which the Rossoneri lost 1-0 to Inter.
“I really liked Milan and [Mario] Balotelli. It was a good performance from the team, a draw would have been a fairer result.
"Balotelli was faultless, [Coach Sinisa] Mihajlovic has vouched for him.
"There is great confidence in Mihajlovic, while this is Balotelli's last chance. I had a long conversation with him on the phone. I told him we were giving him his last chance to be a champion."
