“I didn’t believe we could go for Europe when I first arrived, but I believe now,” said the Albania international goalkeeper.

“At this moment I am also convinced that Atalanta are a better team than Lazio. It’s not just talent, what matters is also the desire to win and we are certainly not lacking that.

“I grew up at Lazio, both as a player and a man, but a goalkeeper has to play regularly in order to really improve. I thought the second and third season that I’d play more often than I did.”

Will Berisha return to Lazio after his loan spell is over?

“I don’t know, as it doesn’t just depend on me, but right now I don’t want to waste energy talking about the future. We’ll see at the end of the season.

“I do have one regret – since coming to Italy, I no longer take penalties. In Sweden with Kalmar I had scored four. I’d love to do that in Serie A too.”
