World Cup winner Beppe Bergomi claims Roberto Mancini’s Euro 2020 side are the ‘most impressive Italy in history.’

They face Austria in the Round of 16 tonight at 20.00 UK time, having won their last 11 games in a row and gone unbeaten in 30.

“I consider this to be the most impressive Italy side in history,” 1982 defender Bergomi told Il Messaggero newspaper.

“They play and enjoy their football the way a truly great club team would. They are daring, take the initiative, win and do so convincingly.

“I watched all their games and can say we have every reason to feel optimistic. I believe the Azzurri can make it all the way to the Final at Wembley.”

The winners of today’s Round of 16 will go on to meet either Belgium or Portugal in the quarter-finals.
