Inter legend Beppe Bergomi wants to see the players “fight for the shirt” against Torino tonight.

It appears Coach Frank de Boer is on the verge of being sacked, and even a win against the Granata might not save him.

“If there are no improvements in competitive edge then there’s no point keeping a Coach,” Bergomi told Tuttomercatoweb.

“If we see the team fight for the shirt and the result then yes, things have changed. It’s up to the club to decide, because right now it’s not easy to find a caretaker for a few months.

“These are difficult decisions.”

Bergomi was then asked for his opinion on De Boer’s reign, which has brought six defeats in just 12 games.

“Italian football is different, it’s very tactical. The Coaches are always very well-prepared. You need to adapt to football wherever you go.

“With De Boer we’ve seen some good performances and some less good ones. Then you take into account what happened with Mauro Icardi, who hasn’t scored for three games. Against Juve he really was the captain of the team.

“I don’t want to make excuses for De Boer, but these are situations which have hindered Inter.

“In today’s match against Torino they must show us something different, the lads need to play with desire and love for the shirt.

“Not least because this team has quality.”
