Inter and Roma are reportedly in talks for a swap deal involving Edin Dzeko and Alexis Sanchez and Bergomi believes the Giallorossi captain would be a perfect signing for the Nerazzurri.
“Inter would send a message to their rivals,” the 1982 Italy World Cup winner told La Gazzetta dello Sport.
“The Nerazzurri would make a further step ahead, if Dzeko arrives with the right mentality he can project Inter into a new dimension.
“With Dzeko, Inter could have one more weapon when they are facing teams that sit deep. He has those aerial skills that Lukaku still doesn’t have. Despite his physical strength, Lukaku is not a strong header.
“I must admit I am a little surprised too, I really like the idea of signing Dzeko even if I imagine football with a classic centre forward and a support striker who plays close to him. We must also be careful about any negative effects," Bergomi warned.
“Inter can’t be sure Dzeko will be a winning choice, because he could change the balance inside the locker room.
“Surely it will be impossible to see Lukaku, Luataro and Dzeko play all together, while Sanchez could play with them when Conte needed.
“Lautaro has proved something over the last year and a half. I wouldn’t want him to suffer a psychological backlash because of another attacker so strong and charismatic. Who is going to sit on the bench?”
