Cristiano Bergodi has spoken publicly for the first time since becoming Pescara boss, and has admitted he delighted to return to the club.

The 48-year-old spent five years as a first-team player at the Delfini between 1984 and 1989, but has no experience of coaching in Italy's top division.

But the former Modena tactician has conceded that he is determined to do well at the Adriatico.

“I will try to give my best,” he told a Press conference. “I am a person who never gives up and I'm very determined.

“I know this team well, and I believe we have all the means to avoid relegation. I am very excited, and I want to thank the President for giving me the opportunity to return to the city that loved me.

“I was at Pescara for nine years overall, and it is a great source of pride to be back here as a Coach.”
