Lega Serie A President Maurizio Beretta says he’s bullish about the League’s foreign TV contracts, which are up for renewal at the end of the year.
The new deals will run through from 2015 to 2018 and Beretta is hopeful it will top the €117m per year averaged in the last agreement.
“We believe that there are important margins for growth compared to the past, and ours is still one of the principal Leagues in the world,” Beretta has told assembled media following a meeting between League Presidents on Friday.
“We shouldn’t forget either that the rate of globalization of these sporting events continues to grow.”
The bidding process for the new foreign TV deals will begin on Tuesday of next week and will run through to October 15, after which the League will meet to consider the offers.
Beretta also touched on the 2014 Italian Super Cup, which is expected to be held in Qatar in December.
“We haven’t yet made taken any official position, but we are working to finalize a solution.”
