The club released a statement announcing it would no longer give updates on its players to avoid causing further public “concern,” after five members of the squad tested positive in 48 hours.

However, Fabio Depaoli and now fellow defender Bartosz Bereszynski have taken to Instagram to confirm they have caught the highly-infectious disease.

“Unfortunately, I have tested positive for COVID-19,” wrote the Poland international.

“I feel fine. Despite taking the proper precautions recently, I still have not managed to avoid this virus. That is why I am asking you to be responsible and stay at home whenever possible.”

Manolo Gabbiadini was the first Sampdoria player to test positive, followed rapidly by teammates Omar Colley, Albin Ekdal, Antonino La Gumina and Morten Thorsby.

The other Serie A players to have contracted Coronavirus so far are Juventus defender Daniele Rugani, Fiorentina players Dusan Vlahovic, German Pezzella and Patrick Cutrone.
