Sassuolo captain Domenico Berardi is formally under investigation for violent conduct towards a Modena supporter after last night’s Coppa Italia defeat.

The incident occurred following the 3-2 loss in the local derby, when Berardi was outside the stadium signing autographs.

A supporter shouted an insult and Berardi had to be chased down and physically restrained from attacking the individual.

The FIGC prosecutor has officially opened an investigation into Berardi for ‘violent conduct towards a fan.’

The whole thing was caught on video by a bystander and went viral on social media.

Berardi issued an apology for his behaviour via Instagram this afternoon.
