Francesca Fantuzzi, the wife of Sassuolo talisman Domenico Berardi, revealed the threatening messages sent to the pair after the 5-2 win over Milan.

The 28-year-old Italian winger played a leading role in the Neroverdi’s historic win in San Siro, scoring one goal and providing three assists during his 84 minutes on the pitch. Berardi has a strong history against the Rossoneri, having directly contributed to 18 goals in 19 meetings with the club.

In the aftermath of Sassuolo’s historic win over Milan, many Rossoneri fans rushed to social media to share their anger, and some took things a step further.

Fantuzzi, Berardi’s wife, was sent a number of intimidating and insulting messages on Instagram, with one even threatening to kill the Sassuolo winger. Fantuzzi confirmed the couple’s intention to take things to the police, saying: “Legal action will be taken!”

Injuries disrupted the first half of Berardi’s season, limiting him to just seven league appearances before the World Cup break, but since the restart he’s returned to his best, scoring three goals and providing three assists across five games.
