Domenico Berardi is relishing the number of talented options at Italy’s disposal after a 3-0 win over Switzerland. ‘I am very happy for Manuel Locatelli.’

The Sassuolo teammates combined for the opening goal and Locatelli completed his brace before the late Ciro Immobile third.

“Manu and I know each other very well. He was smart to give me the ball and carry on the run. I am happy for him, he had a great game,” Berardi told RAI Sport.

“This group is fantastic, we fought to the end and brought home three fundamental points.”

Lorenzo Insigne and Immobile have been the first choice trident, but there are other talents too.

“Training during the week, we get to know each other well. We’ve got so many good strikers, Insigne, Immobile, but also Chiesa, Belotti and Bernardeschi. We’re very happy.”

Italy are now in the Round of 16, although the head-to-head with Wales will decide first place in Group A.

“We must try to give 100 per cent in every game. It’s another important test coming up and we will aim to win that too.”
