Domenico Berardi admits he tried to leave Sassuolo in the last three years but never found the ‘right team’ wanting him.

The Italy international scored the winner against Lecce yesterday, days after his contract extension until 2027.

“A few years ago, I had the chance to leave, but I didn’t do it because I was young,” he told DAZN.

“I’ve tried to leave in the last three years, but honestly, I’ve never found the right team that wanted me. Therefore, I decided to remain with the family where I grew up. I couldn’t do anything different.”

Berardi pushed to join Fiorentina a year ago, but the Tuscans didn’t reach an agreement with the Neroverdi.

The 28-year-old has scored 122 goals in 328 appearances with Sassuolo.

  1. So True. Im trying to find a place to hide from Nivember 21st to December 23rd. I dont even want to watch any games from World Cup including Canada. Fell Utter shame as an italian.

  2. Hey Ferdiando – if you live in Canada and are writing that, you’re a loser and should leave the country.
