He was named in the starting XI for today’s Serie A game against Empoli at the Stadio Castellani.
However, he pulled up during the warm-up with a muscular problem and was replaced by Matteo Politano.
It remains to be seen whether this is a genuine injury or if Sassuolo stopped Berardi as a precautionary measure ahead of international duty.
