Since his move from Boca Juniors in July 2017, the central midfielder has picked up two Scudetti, the Coppa Italia and a Supercoppa Italiana, confirming his first thoughts when he arrived at the Allianz Stadium.

“I knew I was going to Turin in December, my agent told me,” Bentancur told La Stampa. “Six months later, I was there, it seemed incredible.

“From the beginning I had the feeling of joining a great team, I could breathe in the mentality of the club.

“Allegri gave me confidence, Sarri is now counting on me. It’s pride and responsibility, I only focus on working hard. I still have to improve a lot.

Bentancur prepares with the rest of the squad for the resumption against Milan in the Coppa Italia on Friday and is raring to go.

“It won’t be easy to play without fans and the heat will have an impact,” he said. “We are training hard, we will be ready.

“Juve always want to win and the Coppa Italia is the first target. We care a lot.”

The 22-year-old recalled being ‘surprised’ by Cristiano Ronaldo when he first met the Portuguese superstar in Russia.

“I met him at the World Cup in Russia. I greeted him and he said: ‘Hi Rodrigo’. I don’t know how he knew my name. I was surprised.

“A few weeks later we were teammates at Juventus. He has an incredible desire to win.”
