The Bianconeri are increasingly coming under fire for disappointing results and above all performances, with a 2-1 defeat at Hellas Verona in Serie A and 1-1 draw with Milan in the Coppa Italia.

“The team is in very good shape, as you can see by the fact we are top of the Serie A table, reached the Champions League Round of 16 and the Coppa Italia semi-final,” Bentancur told Sky Sport Italia.

“We need to improve in terms of our performances, but are on the right track. We’re working to get stronger.”

Only a controversial last-gasp Cristiano Ronaldo penalty allowed them to grab a 1-1 draw away to Milan in the Coppa Italia last night.

“It was a very tough game, but I think we did well. Now we are concentrated on getting a good result in the second leg on our home turf.

“Before that, we’ve got Brescia this weekend and want a good performance. At Juve, you must always give something more, that’s what I was told the first day I arrived and the most important element that has made this team win so much over the years.”
