According to La Gazzetta Dello Sport, Ismael Bennacer will triple his salary by signing a contract extension with Milan during the Word Cup break.

The Algeria international’s current €1.5m-a-year deal runs out in June 2024 and the Serie A champions are close to reaching an agreement to extend his stay at San Siro.

According to the Gazzetta, the Rossoneri have offered their midfield star a new €4m-a-year deal plus add-ons until 2027 and will finalise the final details of the agreement during the World Cup break.

The Rossoneri are confident of announcing Bennacer’s contract extension by the end of the year.

Previous reports in Italy had linked Bennacer with a possible move to Liverpool, but the ex-Empoli midfielder is willing to continue with the Rossoneri.

Fikayo Tomori, Sandro Tonali and Pierre Kalulu have also signed new deals with the Diavoli over the last few months and Milan hope they’ll persuade Rafael Leao to do the same after the World Cup.

Bennacer, 24, joined Milan for €17m from Empoli in the summer of 2019 and has scored four goals in 126 games with the Serie A giants.

  1. Well Deserved! Keep him for another window, but in the meantime we’ll need to find and train a replacement. The renewal following this one would be too expensive for Milan to afford and we would likely sell him in ’26.
