“It is a fundamental game for us,” said the Coach in his Press conference.

Only the top two teams in Serie A go directly into the Champions League, whereas the third has to play a preliminary round in August.

“We must win this game and will face it the right way, because second place is hanging in the balance. It’s not a Final, but we must go into this game as if it were. We must not show fear.

“Napoli have remarkable attacking qualities and we have scored many goals this season, so we have to focus on making the most of our characteristics.

“Will Napoli and Roma be the teams to beat over the next few years? It has to be said Juventus are a strong club and team. Roma are having a great campaign, albeit without the strain of European commitments.

“Both sides are going through a growth process. Next year will be more or less the same, just that we’ll know the tournament and our players better.

“We’ve had a lot of injuries, whereas Roma have the advantage of only playing one game per week.”

Marek Hamsik has not been his usual self and even after recovering from injury has continued to struggle.

“He is a top level player who is slowly recovering from injury. He knows that he can and must make the difference. He has all my faith and support.”
