Dalian coach Rafael Benitez has revealed he spoke to Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis about swapping Hirving Lozano for Yannick Carrasco.

The former Napoli coach admits he has kept in touch with the Partenopei chief and revealed the pair discussed possible transfers this summer.

“We kept in touch, there’s mutual respect,” he told Corriere dello Sport. “We spoke in January and an exchange between Lozano and Carrasco could be done.”

The Spanish tactician supports Napoli in the Coppa Italia Final tonight and remembered the sad night in Rome six years ago, marred by the shooting of a fan, Ciro Esposito.

“Given my past, I’m with Napoli. The two teams start on equal terms,” he added. “In Doha, however, Juve were the favourites and we won.

The sad evening in Rome, 2014: “A night without joy, because we knew what had happened before the game and we were informed after the difficult conditions of Ciro Esposito.

“But I will remember the welcome I got in Naples when we returned. The policemen on the train asking us for selfies or a photo.”
