The Partenopei meet Roberto Mancini’s men in the Coppa Italia quarter final, with a semi-final against Lazio the prize for the winner.

Benitez replaced Jose Mourinho on the Beneamata bench in 2010, but was dismissed after just six months. However, the Spaniard insists he bears no grudges.

“I remember winning the two trophies [Supercoppa and Intercontinental Cup] there, and making many friends,” the former Liverpool manager said in his pre-match Press conference.

“I’ve said many times what happened, and now I want to look forward. I won two trophies there, and have good relationships with many people, and I retain that memory.

“There are some people I don’t have fond memories of, but that happens when you want to win and someone won’t allow it.

“It’s a very strong club, and a big one internationally, with fans who want to win everything.

“On a technical and level and in the sense of prestige they’re struggling to reach their goals, and that means this match will be more difficult against them, because they want to win something.”
