“Why was I angry? Because we lost,” Benitez explained in his Press conference ahead of the Coppa Italia clash with Lazio.

“I always want to win every game, and if I don’t like what I see I get angry. I’ll speak to the Press when I have to, but I prefer to talk to my team first.

“We talked about what didn’t go well, as we always do. I believe in our ability, and we’re ready to go forward we might win, lose or draw, but the team will always give 100 per cent.

“We’ll try to catch Roma if we can, but the Italian League is very difficult, there are no easy games and you can lose sometimes, but we have confidence in ourselves and we’re working to win the next matches.

“We’ve won two trophies [the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana], but if we all go forward shoulder-to-shoulder we can win more.

“I can’t keep repeating the same things after every defeat. After Doha we’ve had a win ratio of 77 per cent.

“We’ve lost three times, but I repeat: shoulder to shoulder we move forward.”
