Benfica pushing for Cristante

Benfica are reportedly pressing hard to pick up Milan midfielder Bryan Cristante this summer, despite an initial offer apparently being rejected.

The Portuguese champions are speculated by Sky Sport 24 as having offered more than €3m and bonuses for the highly rated youngster, who was on the verge of the Milan senior squad last term.

The Gazzetta dello Sport are also indicating that a bid to sign the 19-year-old was officially faxed through.

It is believed that the Rossoneri are ready to turn down the offer ‘for several reasons’ in the coming days, but that Cristante would, in the case of staying at San Siro, push for guarantees of greater first-team chances during 2014-15.

Portuguese outlet A Bola report that Benfica’s initial offer was closer to €4m and has already been turned down, but that Jorge Jesus’ side are ready to return with a second bid soon.
