Poland international Kamil Glik has been taken to hospital after he was accidentally kicked in the face during Benevento’s Serie B draw away to Brescia.

The incident occurred during the final minutes of the match, which ended 2-2 at the Stadio Rigamonti this evening.

Brescia had taken a corner and Medhi Leris attempted an overhead kick, but did not realise how close Glik was and accidentally caught him in the face with a boot.

Glik was stretchered off with a neck brace, provided with oxygen as a precaution and taken to the local hospital for tests.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the defender is now conscious, but should be kept in overnight for observation.

He just turned 34 last month and has been at Benevento since September 2020, dropping down with them following relegation to Serie B.

Glik has spent much of his playing career in Italy with Palermo, Bari, Torino and Benevento.
