Former Juventus player Domenico Marocchino is refusing to criticise his ex-club over their deadline day swoop for Niklas Bendtner.

The Old Lady controversially took the Arsenal player on loan after failing to land a host of bigger names in attack during the summer.

“There must be a reason why Juventus signed him if they did,” the 55-year-old, who left Juve after four years in 1983, told Tutto Juve.

“We shouldn’t forget that this club has done very well over the last two years and then, some time ago, some were perplexed over the signing of Moreno Torricelli…”

The latter was a defender at little Caratese who earned a move to Turin after impressing in a pre-season friendly against Juve in 1992.

The right-back went on to win numerous club honours with the Old Lady, as well as 10 international caps for Italy.
