Mehdi Benatia insists Juventus and Napoli are in a better position to win the Scudetto than his Roma side.

The Giallorossi, who won their first 10 games of the campaign, are top of the League – a point clear of the Old Lady and four ahead of the Azzurri.

“We’re not favourites for the Scudetto,” the summer signing from Udinese told Sky Sport Italia on Friday.

“Our principal objective this season is to get this team back into European competition.

“If anything more than that is possible then we’ll do that, but Juventus and Napoli will fight until the end and we’ll have to duel with them.”

The centre-back added: “Juventus have been the strongest team in Italy for three years. They are a great side, they have a complete squad and a quality one.

“They’ll do well in the Champions League as well.”

Juventus are currently bottom of their Champions League group, but will qualify for the knock-out stages with wins over FC Copenhagen and Galatasaray.
