Fiorentina midfielder Marco Benassi is reportedly close to Hellas Verona, where he’ll be replaced by free agent and returning hero Borja Valero.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Borja Valero has accepted a proposal to sign on for a one-year contract at the Stadio Artemio Franchi.

It is a comeback for the ‘Mayor of Florence’, who spent five seasons here before his three-year spell at Inter.

Making way is Benassi, who is said to be heading for Hellas Verona on loan.

It remains to be seen if there will also be an option to buy for the 26-year-old former Torino and Inter player.

Benassi played 95 competitive games for Fiorentina, scoring 17 goals and providing five assists, but he had fallen down the pecking order recently.
