River Plate striker Lucas Beltran is attracting interest from the Peninsula, as not only do Fiorentina want to sign him, but Italy could also bring him in for international duty.

The 22-year-old has been very impressive for River Plate so far this season, finding the net 15 times in 31 competitive appearances.

A product of the River Plate academy who also had a loan spell at Colon in 2021-22, his contract runs to December 2025.

According to Diario AS and Sky Sport Italia transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, there has been an approach from Roberto Mancini to see if Beltran would be prepared to represent Italy at international level.

Although he has played for Argentina in the Under-20 squad, he does not seem to be on the radar of the senior Seleccion.

A move to Italy might be on the cards anyway, as Fiorentina have been linked with a possible transfer swoop for the centre-forward.

It comes after Mateo Retegui completed his transfer from Boca Juniors to Genoa.
