Fiorentina are in talks with River Plate for Argentinean striker Lucas Beltrán who has an Italian passport and has been ‘monitored’ by Roberto Mancini.

The Tuscans are in talks with River Plate and the player’s entourage, but River seem unwilling to sell for less than his €20m clause.

The 22-year-old forward has a contract running through 2025 with River Plate and has scored 21 goals in 74 games with the Argentinean giants.

Born in Cordoba, Argentina, on March 29, 2021, Beltrán has Italian citizenship so, just like new Genoa striker Mateo Retegui, he could be called up by Roberto Mancini in the future.

The Azzurri CT confirmed on Friday that Beltrán is one of the players monitored by his staff.

“We are following him, like many others, but nothing has been decided yet for the moment.”

Retegui made his Italy debut this past March and has scored two goals in his first three appearances with the Azzurri.

He has recently completed a €15m move to Genoa, where he will play for ex-Italy striker and 2006 Italy World Cup winner Alberto Gilardino.
