Valon Behrami says that ‘problems’ experienced with Rafa Benitez saw him lose the joy of playing and opt to leave Napoli.
The Switzerland international has revealed why he chose to leave the Vesuviani this summer for Bundesliga outfit Hamburg.
“When I arrived at Napoli on the bench was Walter Mazzarri, who had great confidence in me and he knew how to treat me,” Behrami has explained to Tagesanzeiger.com.
“And with him I had a perfect year, then he went away and in came Benitez, and there were initial problems.

“With the Spanish Coach I never felt the same confidence as before, so I lost a little joy in playing and so looked for a new challenge.
“Inter? There was a possibility, but the Presidents of the two clubs have a particular relationship with each other.
“I did not want to take the risk of staying another year at Napoli.”
