Bayern Munich have confirmed that coach Thomas Tuchel will leave in the summer and rumours suggest Antonio Conte is waiting for a call from Bavaria.

The German giants have not managed to look their usual best this season, falling behind to Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen in the title race. Their 3-2 defeat away to VfL Bochum on the weekend leaves them eight points behind the league leaders after 22 matches.

Tuchel’s Bayern also disappointed in the Champions League, falling to Lazio in a painful 1-0 loss in the first leg of their Round of 16 tie. The Biancocelesti will now be feeling confident ahead of their trip to Germany at the start of March.

As announced today, Bayern and Tuchel have decided to part ways at the end of this season, a year ahead of his contract’s 2025 expiration date. The club will therefore look to appoint a new head coach in the summer.

Whilst Alonso is considered the favourite to take over in Bavaria, a recent report from Bild claimed that Conte and Jose Mourinho were both on the club’s shortlist as well.

The Italian coach is still looking around for the right project and believes Bayern to be one of the top three clubs in Europe. He’s also keen to win the Bundesliga title, so has reportedly given his availability to Bayern.
