Bayern Munich are said to have put €100m aside to bring a new striker to the Allianz Arena in the summer and could turn to Napoli’s Victor Osimhen to fill their goalscoring void.
The Bavarians parted ways with club record goalscorer Robert Lewandowski last summer and brought in Sadio Mane, who now finds himself in hot water after his alleged bust-up with teammate Leroy Sane after the Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City.
Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting has stepped up admirably in the absence of another recognised senior centre-forward, with 17 goals from 28 appearances across all competitions this term.
But Bayern are interested in bringing a more permanent solution to the club as soon as possible and according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Osimhen is among the top candidates on their wishlist.
However, despite Bayern setting aside a nine-figure sum to spend on a new striker, there could still be a disparity between that and Napoli’s asking price for Osimhen.
There has already been interest from Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, who were reportedly told by Aurelio De Laurentiis that the bidding for the Nigerian striker would start at around €150 million.
