Bayern Munich have clarified the situation regarding goalkeeper Manuel Neuer ahead of their Champions League quarter-final second leg against Inter at San Siro.
Neuer’s availability for the return fixture — scheduled for tomorrow — had been in doubt for coach Vincent Kompany, with the veteran shot-stopper racing against time to recover from a recent muscle injury.

Although reports on Tuesday morning suggested the goalkeeper might be eligible for the match, even if not guaranteed to start, his name was ultimately absent from the squad list published by the Bundesliga side later in the day.

As confirmed by Bayern Munich via their official social media channels, Kompany has named a 22-man squad for Wednesday’s clash, but the 39-year-old goalkeeper was left out.
The club later explained that Neuer “misses out due to injury, but will still travel to Milan to support the team.”

On a more positive note for Bayern, Kompany has been able to recall Kingsley Coman and Aleksandar Pavlović, both of whom missed the first leg due to injury.
