Thomas Tuchel was asked about Bayern Munich’s reported interest in Napoli star Victor Osimhen and he chose his words carefully to avoid upsetting Luciano Spalletti.

Sky Sports Germany reported recently that the Bavarian giants were interested in picking up the Nigerian striker in the summer and had already sounded out a move, joining Chelsea and Manchester United in the fight for his signature.

Osimhen has emerged as one of the best strikers in the world in Campania, playing a vital part of Napoli’s Scudetto charge this season, scoring 21 goals and providing five assists in 23 Serie A appearances.

Speaking in a press conference, Tuchel was asked about the reports that Bayern were interested in Osimhen.

“I know the mechanisms and I know that a different message would then arrive in Italy. My colleague (Spalletti, ed.) might ask me why I won’t keep my mouth shut. That’s why I will, and I won’t talk about players who are under contract with other clubs.”

Bayern have already reportedly contacted Osimhen’s entourage and have been given the green light by Tuchel, who would be happy to work with the Napoli star.

The 24-year-old is contracted to the Partenopei until June 2025 and could cost in excess of €100m, with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis known to be a tough negotiator.
