Former Inter and Bayern Munich midfielder Lothar Matthäus doesn’t believe the Nerazzurri will be able to build on their one-goal advantage from the first leg and come out on top in the Champions League quarter-finals, as he considers the Bavarian giants to have already proven themselves to be ‘the best team’ in the tie.
The two teams will meet again on Wednesday at the San Siro, one week after their encounter at the Allianz Arena, where Simone Inzaghi’s side secured a 2-1 victory, thanks to a late winner from Davide Frattesi.

Remembered as a midfield star by both clubs, Matthäus is confident that Bayern Munich will manage to turn the tie around in Milan, particularly with Harry Kane eager to return to scoring after failing to make an impact in both the first leg and his side’s recent Bundesliga match against Borussia Dortmund.
Matthaus sees Bayern as clear favourites against Inter in Champions League
“I firmly believe that Bayern will go through,” Matthaus said in an interview, as quoted by FcInter1908.
“San Siro has a special energy, but for Bayern, playing against the opposition’s fans has always been an extra motivation.
They proved last week in Munich that they are the best team. Their limitations, like against Dortmund, were in their lack of clinicality in front of goal. If they can capitalise on their chances, Bayern can overturn a one-goal deficit at any moment.

“In the first leg, they went really close. Harry Kane hit the post; things aren’t going well for him, but I wouldn’t call it a crisis. Kane knows where the goal is, and he will start scoring again.
“Hopefully, he does so on Wednesday, for Bayern. My prediction? A 3-1 win after extra time.”
The team that goes through is likely to meet Barcelona in the semifinals after the Blaugrana crushed Borussia Dortmund 4-0 in the first let at home.
Well, he predicted clear Bayern win in the first match lol.
He should be quiet.
