Bayern Munich director Hasan Salihamidzic confirms the Bavarians received an offer for Benjamin Pavard in January, and multiple reports claim it came from Inter.

Salihamidzic told the German paper Bild that the Bundesliga giants received an official offer for the France international in the last few days of the winter transfer window.

“Benjamin is a very important player for us and extremely versatile in defence,” said the ex-Juventus winger.

“We have big targets for this season and we can’t do without him. Economically, the offer was attractive, but for us, the sporting project always prevails.”

Calciomercato.com and German transfer expert Christian Falk claim Inter were responsible for the offer for Pavard in January, while Fabrizio Romano adds that the bid did not come from Barcelona who are planning to sign the Frenchman in the summer.

The competition will be stiff at the end of the season as the Nerazzurri are also on the hunt for a new centre-back for 2023-24 given that Milan Skriniar will join PSG at the end of his contract with Inter in June.

Stefan de Vrij and Danilo D’Ambrosio also see their contracts at the Stadio Meazza expire in the summer and the Nerazzurri have already offered a contract extension to the Dutch defender.

Pavard’s current deal with Bayern Munich expires in June 2024 and the 26-year-old said this past November that he’d like to play in Serie A one day.
