Bayern ‘confident’ of closing Pavard ‘issue’ with Inter

Bayern Munich CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen is confident the Bavarians will soon ‘close the issue’ regarding Benjamin Pavard who wants to join Inter.

The Bavarians’ director gave a little update about the 2018 France World Cup winner during the unveiling press conference of Daniel Peretz on Monday morning.

“Benjamin had back problems,” Dreesen explained. “I’m quite confident that we can still close the issue in this transfer window.”

Pavard was not involved in Bayern’s victory over Augsburg on Sunday and hasn’t been training with the team for a few days.

He has an agreement with Inter, but Bayern won’t let him leave until they find a replacement.

According to Sky Sport Italia, the Bavarians have set their sights on Milan defender Pierre Kalulu to replace Pavard, while Gazzetta claims Chelsea’s Trevoh Chalobah is Bayern’s designated candidate.

Inter have offered €28m plus €5m add-ons for Pavard. The Frenchman’s contract expires in June 2024, so Bayern are willing to sell him in the current transfer window to avoid seeing him leave on a free transfer at the end of the season.
