Bayer Leverkusen have entered the race to sign Juventus defender Dean Huijsen, speaking directly to his father, challenging PSG, Aston Villa, Borussia Dortmund and Newcastle United.

The 19-year-old spent the last six months on loan with Roma and is widely expected to be sold this summer for €30m, his club using the funds to purchase Teun Koopmeiners from Atalanta.

There has been strong interest from numerous clubs, with Paris Saint-Germain becoming the favourites in recent weeks, but they seem to have cooled off a little.

Instead, Footmercato in France suggest that Bayer Leverkusen are ready to push for the central defender.

Bayer Leverkusen talk to Huijsen

They claim that coach Xabi Alonso has been in direct contact with the player’s father and the rest of his entourage to see if they can do a deal.

Born in Amsterdam, Huijsen moved to Spain as a young age and started in the Malaga youth academy, moving to Juventus in 2021.

For being a centre-back, he has a surprising eye for goal, scoring two in 14 Serie A appearances and 20 in 86 overall matches in his career.
