The various elements of the striker merry-go-round are coming together and they all rotate around Higuain’s desire to reunite with Maurizio Sarri at Stamford Bridge.

According to Sky Sport Italia, a deal has been done this evening for Milan to interrupt the season-long Higuain loan with option to buy and pass the same terms over to Chelsea.

They need a replacement and the first choice remains Piatek of Genoa.

However, Genoa only want €40m plus bonuses in cash upfront and will not accept any loans, options to buy or spread payments.

This is a problem for Milan and director Leonardo will go to owners Elliott Management to ask for the funds.

Sportitalia maintain Genoa could be willing to accept a loan with obligation to buy, so they are guaranteed the money in June.

If that doesn’t work, Plan B is Batshuayi, who is owned by Chelsea and currently on loan to Valencia.

He has already decided to interrupt that, but Monaco had agreed terms and today confirmed Chelsea suddenly blocked the transfer.

This is seemingly so that the Belgium international can be sent to Milan as a replacement for Higuain over the next six months.

As for Alvaro Morata, his deal with Atletico Madrid is practically done.
