Gabriel Batistuta and Ciro Ferrara responded to a recent interview given by Antonio Cassano, where he underlined his dislike of the former Fiorentina and Roma star.

When speaking to Muschio Selvaggio earlier this week, Cassano reflected on his time at the Giallorossi, where he remembered some issues he had with club legend Francesco Totti regarding the differences in their salaries.

He revealed in that interview that he had a particular dislike of Batistuta and Marco Delvecchio, suggesting that the Argentinian didn’t pay for coffee or greet the waiters.

Batistuta responded to these comments in an interview with La Nazione today, being calm after his former teammate’s criticisms.

“To be considered disliked by Cassano seems to me a nice compliment. As soon as he arrived in Rome I saw him lost, he couldn’t settle in, I spoke with my wife, we took him to our house and now to hear him talk like that, I’m really disappointed.

“It makes me tender. He didn’t take advantage of the chance football gave him to grow as a person.”

Cassano’s comments also bothered former Napoli and Juventus full back Ferrara, who didn’t hold back when responding on Instagram.

“Hello Antonio, you speak of things you obviously don’t know well, in a language you master even less. On 10 May 1987, while we won the first Scudetto in the history of Napoli, you were not yet five years old and you were taking a baby bottle.

“Shut up, which is better. Diego would never have wanted a ‘phenomenon’ like you in his dressing room. Signed: nu scappat ‘e casa.”

Cassano spent five years of his career with Roma from 2001 to 2006 before leaving for Real Madrid. During that time, he scored 52 goals and provided 21 assists in 161 games. After this period, his career was fairly unstable and many felt that he wasted the potential he showed during those early years.
