Alessandro Bastoni was in high spirits after Inter’s comfortable 1-0 win over Torino today.

The Nerazzurri secured all three points at the San Siro after a 30th minute goal from Denzel Dumfries, ending the Milanese side’s 2021 in perfect fashion. The team currently lead Serie A, having only lost one game so far this campaign.

Speaking to DAZN after the 1-0 win over Torino, Bastoni noted that ‘we have found the defensive solidity we had last year, we are doing well. The coach’s hand is important, he gives us the unpredictability we didn’t have last year. We’ve had a perfect month.’

The 22-year-old Italian centre back then touched on the emotional impact of winning the Scudetto last campaign, highlighting that ‘it gives us greater awareness, it gives us the motivation to try and repeat what we did last year. We feel good playing every three days, it has become normal. Plus we’re having fun, everyone has been integrated, we want to continue like this.’

The 22-year-old Bastoni, who is contracted to Inter until 2024, is a core part of Simone Inzaghi’s squad in the Lombardy capital this campaign. He has made 23 appearances across all competitions so far this season, providing two assists and helping the side keep 10 clean sheets.

Inter currently have a comfortable lead at the top of the Serie A table but the Christmas break may have come at the wrong time for the squad, considering their notable momentum at this stage of the season. The Nerazzurri have won their last seven consecutive league outings.

  1. Nah, the break comes at a good time. Some players like Barella and Lautaro and Dzeko and Sanchez have looked in need of a break for a while now. Plus we would like Darmian and Correa back. Let’s hope 2022 is as good a year, or better, as 2021 was, for the Nerazzuri!
