Alessandro Bastoni should be available against Switzerland but prefers not to predict a win for the Azzurri: ‘Considering what happened to England…’

The Italy international was replaced after 84 minutes in the derby della Madonnina with a suspected thigh injury.

During his post-match press conference, Simone Inzaghi said Bastoni has adductor problems, but the 22-year-old seemed confident that he would be available when Italy host Switzerland at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome on Friday.

“Let’s see what happens on Friday, but considering we beat England recently when they were already celebrating, it’s best we don’t count our chickens just yet,” Bastoni told DAZN.

Nicolò Barella had been subbed off before Bastoni and Inzaghi said the midfielder has muscle fatigue.

Milan derby brings more concern for Mancini’s Italy

Inter and Milan shared points in a 1-1 draw that saw the Rossoneri join Napoli on top of the table, while the Nerazzurri remain seven points behind the leading pair.

Simone Inzaghi saw the glass half empty for the Nerazzurri, but Bastoni was satisfied with the performance.

“We knew it was important to win, but when you don’t do it, then it’s essential not to lose. When intensity is high, mistakes are understandable. We are satisfied with what we did,” he said.

“We are a united group, Inzaghi is continuing Conte’s work. There are no reserves and everybody feels part of the project.”
