Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni said ‘it’s an honour’ to play in the matches against Juventus but claimed the Old Lady are favourites in the Scudetto race.

The Italy international has played 14 Serie A games this term and looks forward to the ‘big game’ against the Bianconeri on Sunday.

Inter are second in Serie A ahead of the Derby d’Italia and Bastoni stressed the Nerazzurri’s target is to stop the Old Lady.

“Playing Inter-Juventus is always a great emotion,” Bastoni told Sky Sport Italia. “I have played it three or four times, but you always have the same sensation.

“It’s a big match and it’s an honour to play in it.”

Bastoni is determined to stop Juventus’ run in the Serie A.

“Juve have been winning for many years, our journey began last year with the arrival of the coach,” he said. “We will try to put them in difficulty, we want to grow.

“They have been winning for some time, we are following a path. We are playing a lot and we don’t look at the table, we will try to stop them.”

But the young centre-back claimed the Old Lady are the favourites for the Scudetto also in 2020-21.

“Certainly, their domination have lasted for a long time.”

He will come up against Cristiano Ronaldo on Sunday and the 21-year-old said Inter must work as a team to stop the Portuguese superstar.

“CR7? If I only knew,” he said. “We need to work as a team, we are growing.

“We are a good group, and we are good together. They are a strong team.”

Inter have conceded more goals in 2020-21 compared to last year.

“The situations decide the matches and at the moment there are many going against us,” he continued. “Having said that, we have also raised the centre of gravity.

“We are more aggressive, and we concede more. But we still want to concede as little as possible.”

Bastoni said the players must avoid reading the reports about Suning wanting to sell a stake in Inter.

“These are voices that can’t disturb us. Inter are a great club, with very good managers who will solve everything.

“We only think about the pitch and about doing well. Our goal is that, we know that if things go well on the pitch, everything else will work out.

“We want to do this, because it’s our passion and we hope this message will pass.”

Inter sit four points above Juventus ahead of the Derby d’Italia and Bastoni stressed the journey ahead is still long.

“It’s a strange championship because of the many commitments,” he said. “Ours is a continuous path, we take one game at a time and try to win them all."
