Alessandro Bastoni feels it is ‘a privilege’ to play Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu and a win would give Inter more ‘belief’ in the Champions League.

Both clubs have already booked their places in the Champions League Round of 16, but a victory would send Inter through as group winners and in theory give them a better draw going forward in the tournament.

“It is certainly a privilege to play this kind of game and in this stadium,” defender Bastoni told Sky Sport Italia at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.

“We want to do well, because it’s been many years since Inter won in Madrid, and it would give us even more belief in our capabilities.”

Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale are out injured, so Luka Jovic starts for the Merengues under the guidance of coach Carlo Ancelotti.

“There will be many difficulties, from the atmosphere to the quality of the opposition,” continued Bastoni.

“Even if Benzema isn’t there, Real Madrid have players of incredible quality like Vincius and Rodrygo, so we need to be on our toes.”
