Il Toro are currently sitting in seventh place in the Serie A table, but after Lazio’s win in the Coppa Italia Final, only the top six now qualify for European competition.

“I would have to give this season a ten out ten,” the former Atalanta midfielder told Gazzetta dello Sport.

“Qualifying for Europe would make this an unforgettable season, but Lazio’s win in the Coppa Italia makes it harder for us.

“It means that whoever comes seventh now will miss out on Europe. It would have been an extra opportunity for us to qualify, but we’re still focused on finishing in the top six.

“We won’t give an inch, as we believe that we will be playing European football next season. We have laid the foundations to build a strong team in the future. Our Coach Walter Mazzarri and our President Urbano Cairo have done a great job.”
